Joyce to the World: Touring Around Kuala Lumpur and Johor, Malaysia!
Almost all of my friends who found out about my Malaysia trip earlier this year were surprised when I told them it was my first time there. Most of them have visited at some point in their lives - whether for work or leisure, and were adamant in suggesting places to visit, food to try out, and shopping centres to, well, shop.
Needless to say, I had an absolute ball visiting Malaysia. I couldn’t believe how much I had been missing out on by not visiting sooner. There were so many places you could go to, if you’re traveling alone, with friends, or family — and the people, food, and culture will only make you want to come back for more.
The thing that surprised me most about my visit was how much art Kuala Lumpur has - teeming her streets, the inner walls of secret Malaysian restaurant spots in Jalan Alor, and even on top of buildings, where we found a swim club to grab afternoon drinks and take a dip in.
All the places we went to where quite photogenic. Or as we’d like to coin these days, “instagrammable”.
And, my goodness, the Petronas Twin Towers. How majestic could majestic architecture be? You can only really tell once you’ve seen the towers in person.
We ended our day in KL at, perhaps, the most curious pub I’ve even been in - The Iron Fairies. 10/10 would recommend.
After spending a couple of days in Kuala Lumpur, we went on our way to visit a different part of Malaysia where we did some shopping, and more discovering - Johor!

I can’t wait to spend some time in your beautiful country again, Malaysia!
