How to Conquer a Burnout
How can we differentiate burnout from exhaustion or even depression? What should we do to conquer it? Coach Lyqa and Joyce Pring pinpoint indicators and share how they personally handle burnouts from their different experiences in this episode.
Defining Burnout
Defining burnout is quite hard, knowing that it has no united definition yet. Some mistook it as exhaustion and some as depression. People would look at the symptoms when it comes to burnout, such as being exhausted, being unable to perform one’s regular duties, and feeling hopeless. Those things could be good indicators of what burnout is, but for Coach Lyqa, it could be rooted in doing so much, such as when a person is making huge efforts but it does not match what he is getting.
Taking Yourself Out From A Burnout
When it comes to numbers, Coach Lyqa just hit 800 videos on YouTube where she also hit 1 million subscribers, while on TikTok, she now has 2.2 followers. Thus, on paper, it looks very successful because of the people’s comments and all they say is that they are grateful for the help. But, coming to think of it, there was a question constantly popping in Coach Lyqa’s head asking if she has done enough. And whenever that time comes, she states that she acknowledges her limit and stops.
Bearing in mind that it will be difficult to deal with and fix anything, if we do not put a label on it, it will be much harder to acknowledge and express. Joyce shares that she never thought podcasting on her end would be this overwhelming. Doing it for fun, she exclaimed that she did not anticipate creating podcasts will be big as what it is right now. In this sense, it proves the idea that differentiating exhaustion from burnout is crucial because it will help an individual to turn their paths to good changes.
Why Do People Experience Burnout Even If Things Are Going Well?
Once a person gets out of their comfort zone, the pressure starts to change. New expectations emerge, and more people will observe in everything you do. Apart from their critiques, excelling in what you do will be another challenge in order for you to sustain what you are doing and be able to cater to the needs of others. And in view of the thought that some work can be monotonous, it becomes tiresome because you cannot see progress. (LM)
Reward Yourself From Time to Time
After admitting that burnout has been taking its toll, rewarding yourself with little pleasures is necessary. Learn to enjoy things considering that you have been productive and did your best on the things you need and have to do, as everybody deserves to take their time to pause for they earned it. (LM)
